The Sindh Minister for Local Government, Agha Siraj Khan Durani, has said that tenure of local government system will be completed on October 16, 2009 and on October 17 Administrators will take over the charge.
He aid that after December 31, 2009 local government system constitutionally would be transferred from the Federal government to provincial governments and provinces will decide the fate of this system.
He was talking to the media men after addressing at the groundbreaking ceremony of Mehran Dream City Housing Scheme as chief guest at by pass road near Toll Plaza Jamshoro. He said that Nazims are to get energised themselves and prepare for next local government election and added that people are now matured and they would elect those who really served the people.
Replying to a question regarding giving guarantee to investors, who are interested in investing Thar Coal Project, the Sindh Minister said that Sindh Government, itself, is a guarantee and we would remove all ambiguities of investors if any and will make them satisfied.
Replying another question regarding NFC Award, he said that Sindh Government was trying its best to get due share of Sindh under the multiple formula, which includes collection of revenue and poverty as well.
When asked about the Sindh Peoples Alliance, he said that the people had already rejected them and PPP government has no danger of it. Answering a question about corruption of Nazims, the Sindh Minister said if media and the people give proves of their corruption, action would be taken against corrupt Nazims. The Sindh Minister said that no any government had ever gave such a huge subsidy on flour in Pakistan's history and added that government was trying to provide subsidised flour to all poor people but unfortunately those who can afford unsubsidised flour remain in queue every day.
Earlier, addressing at the ceremony as chief guest after inaugurating the scheme, the Sindh Minister, said that following the foot steps of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, government was working for the provision of Roti, Kapra and Makan to the people and the Mehran Dream City Housing Scheme, which is low cost housing scheme, is also a chain of this mission.
