Rescue 1122 fire service responded to 12,471 fire emergencies in all major cities of the province since the launching of country's first modern fire service.
A spokesman of Rescue 1122 said on Sunday, 5,244 fire emergency calls were responded in Lahore, 1,910 in Faisalabad, 1,182 in Rawalpindi, 278 in Bahawalpur, 852 in Multan, 294 in Dera Ghazi Khan, 369 in Rahim Yar Khan, 278 in Sahiwal, 700 in Sialkot, 852 Gujranwala, 66 in Murree and 337 in Sargodha.
The data for the month of August reveals that the service saved the expected loss of Rs 941.60 million while responding to 368 fire emergencies in all major cities of Punjab. Director Punjab Emergency Service Dr Rizwan Naseer requested the citizens to immediately dial 1122 in case of emergency.
