Seven killed in accident

Seven people, including four members of a family, were killed and 37 others injured when a truck carrying 35 soldiers fell into a ditch after crushing a push cart vendor and two motorcyclists and their wives on Saturday night near Chichwatni. Three injured soldiers were shifted to CMH Okara in precarious condition while civilians rushed to Nishtar Hospital Multan.
DPO Sahiwal Babar Sarfraz Alpa said that seven persons died on the spot when an army truck going to Wana from Okara fell into a ditch in a bid to save a push-cart vendor after hitting two motor cyclists near Chichawatni some 80 miles (128 km) east of Multan. Nishtar Hospital emergency director Dr Muhammad Ali said that four persons Nawab Din, Muhammad Ramzan, Sarfraz Ahmed and Bilal Ahmed who were shifted from Chicha Watni are still in critical condition, however, we are trying to save their lives. Thirty-one injured soldiers were admitted to Tehsil Head Quarter Hospital Chichawatni and Kamalia. Police said that Muhammad Akram, his wife Manzooran Bibi, Muhammad Omar and his wife Jamila were going to Sahiwal on a motorbikes to attend the funeral rites of Akram's father.
