20 Sep, 2009

Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration and Islamabad Police have evolved a comprehensive security plan on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and decided to deploy over 2,500 police personnel and dozens of police vehicles to ensure peace and security in the capital.
These steps were taken on the instructions issued by Interior Ministry to Islamabad Police and police chiefs of all four provinces for making foolproof security on Eid-ul-Fitr to avert any untoward incident. Interior Ministry directed the Islamabad Police and other law enforcement agencies to be more vigilant in checking people entering the capital. Foolproof security arrangements should be made for Eid congregations in the city.
In view of the instructions Islamabad police have chalked out a comprehensive security plan and cancelled the holidays of Islamabad police to ensure the security of the lives and property of the citizens.
Most of the people, who stay in Islamabad for the purpose of their jobs, are leaving the capital to celebrate Eid in their respective hometowns with their families which makes Islamabad vulnerable to make robberies, therefore, special attention will be given to the safety of property, sources in Islamabad Police informed Business Recorder.
Moreover, sources maintained that Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Islamabad will supervise the plan, while Sub-division Police Officers (SDPOs) will check the pickets and patrolling officials in their respective areas will be responsible for security of their areas.
Under this plan over 2,500 police personnel were deployed all over the capital, while 80 pickets were set up on entry points of the capital and 100 vehicles would remain on patrolling duty. They said that this security plan began soon after the Advisor would issue orders.
