Last two special Eid trains leave Karachi

20 Sep, 2009

The last two special Eid trains here left from Cantonment Station for Lahore and Sargodha with passengers for upcountry destinations to celebrate Eid with their families. Secretary/Chairman Railway Sami Khilji waved to the passengers as the train for Sargodha left at mid-day and the second steamed out for Lahore at 2:45 pm.
The Pakistan Railways made elaborate arrangements this Eid to facilitate huge number of passengers. For the purpose, extra reservation counters were established at city and cantonment stations. Another unique feature this year has been the provision of complimentary Iftari boxes to all the passengers of the two special trains, which was high public appreciation.
Speaking to the media men, Sami Khilji said every possible effort is being made to facilitate the passengers. Accompanied by Divisional Superintendent Aftab Memon, the Chairman Railway went round coaches of special trains to personally view the arrangements and to ensure that lights and fans were functional. He also reviewed the general quality of cleanliness in each coach and conveyed his appreciation to divisional railway incharges.
