Policeman gunned down

A police constable was gunned down by unknown armed persons in the jurisdiction of New Karachi Industrial Area police on Saturday. According to police sources, constable Shahid, while patrolling the area on his official motorcycle, he saw two suspected armed bandits riding a 125 motorcycle and he signalled them to stop, instead the armed persons opened straight fire on him, they added.
Resultantly, he died on the spot, however, the bandits fled from the crime scene. The body of slain cop was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for a post-mortem investigation. Sources said that the constable received multiple bullets in his upper and lower torsos. Police have registered a case against the unidentified persons.
Separately, general public foiled a dacoity bid and severally beat up three armed dacoits in the limits of Awami Colony police here, on Saturday. Police said one Abdul Karim, a resident of Sector 13-D, was on way to home after drawing cash from a local bank. When he reached near Makka Masjid, Civic Center a group of four armed dacoits intercepted him on a gunpoint and tried to snatch cash and other valuables from him, they added.
They said Abdul Karim put up resistance, which led to fist fighting between him and dacoits. At the meantime, a large number of area people attacked on dacoits and beat them severally, resulting dacoits got serious injuries, they said, adding a police party also reached the scene that arrested three dacoits however their other accomplice fled. The arrested dacoits were identified as Ahmed son of Siraj, Ayub son of Ghaffar and Javed son of Yousuf. A case has also been registered against them on the complaint of the Abdul Karim.
