Prime Minister and AJK President discuss Kashmir affairs

President Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Raja Zulqarnain Khan called on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani at the Prime Minister House on Sunday and discussed the system of accountability in Azad Kashmir.
Prime Minister said the government in consultation with the opposition, intends to table a new accountability bill in the National Assembly and asked him about the checks and balances in the accountability system of AJK for ensuring transparency and good governance.
President AJK briefed the Prime Minister about the progress on reconstruction work in the earthquake-affected areas. The Prime Minister said he would soon visit AJK to get first hand information in this regard. He informed the Prime Minister of some anomalies in the Constitution, which the Prime Minister said would be discussed in the next AJK Council meeting.
President AJK also informed the Prime Minister about some matters relating to the Chairman of Accountability Cell. Gilani asked him to move a summary in this regard. Prime Minister said that steps should be taken for promoting tourism in AJK. Other matters that came under discussion included Mangla Dam raising and hydel power projects.
