Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Farzana Raja has expressed her firm resolve to enhance the beneficiaries of BISP from existing 2.2 million to five million this year aimed at providing solace to maximum number of the poor segment of society.
Talking to state TV, she said, the distribution of Rs 1,000 per month to 2.2 million registered families was continuing smoothly. Regarding the poverty survey, she said the first phase of the survey has been successfully completed in 16 districts and the data entry of 2.5 million poor families of 16 districts is being completed by Nadra nowadays.
The deserving families would be provided more facilities. Each family would be given Rs 25,000 per annum as health expenditures. Besides their one family member would be provided technical training free of cost aiming to make them self sufficient, she said. Regarding Waseela-e-Haq scheme she said under the scheme 731 families, selected through a monthly draw, will get Rs 300,000 each, to enable them start some self-employment project. The interest free loan is returnable within a period of 15 years. The BISP currently has 2.2 million beneficiaries and are divided in 731 clusters of 3000 families each.
