'Referendum on renaming of NWFP negating genuine right of Pukhtoons'

24 Sep, 2009

The NWFP Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Barrister Arshad Abdullah, has said those who were talking of referendum on the renaming of the province were negating the genuine right of the Pukhtoons. This, he said, while addressing at a reception hosted in his honour at village Dargai - Charsadda, the other day. On this occasion, Murad Ali Shah along with his friends announced joining ANP.
He said that the provincial government had evolved a comprehensive strategy to remove the sense of deprivation of the people of the province and people would soon witness visible changes in the rapid socio-economic uplift of the backward areas of the province.
He said that with the grace of Almighty Allah, provincial government succeeded to bring peace and normalcy in the insurgency-hit NWFP for which workers of ANP rendered their great sacrifices. He termed it a great achievement on the part of the provincial government.
Reacting on the statement of Central Amir of JUI Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman wherein Maulana had termed Taliban as his brothers, Arshad Abdullah said slaughtering innocent people, destroying schools, colleges and houses of people was against Islam and the people supporting such attitude must bring positive change in their thinking. Arshad Abdullah welcomed the party new comers and hoped that their inclusion would further strengthen the party in the area.
