Pepco resorts to loadshedding to meet shortfall

Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) has resorted to four hours unscheduled loadshedding daily in the provincial capital to meet the electricity shortfall of 2365 MW between the power generation and demand. A statement of Ministry of Water and Power said on Friday that due to hot weather, power demand has risen to 15,580 MW against the total power generation of 13,5580 MW.
The mercury has risen in almost all cities during past fortnight after the end of monsoon season and continuous hot and dry weather resulting in more use of airconditioners and electronics appliances, it said. The Meteorological department has forecast hot and dry weather in most parts of the country during the next few days.
