Distribution of resources: provinces to present their stance in next NFC meeting

Punjab Finance Minister Tanvir Ashraf Kaira has said that next meeting of National Finance Commission (NFC) will be held on October 12 and 13 at Quetta in which important issues regarding distribution of resources from the Federal government to provinces will be discussed and the provinces will present their stance on vertical distribution of resources.
He expressed these views while talking to the media after the luncheon, hosted by Punjab Union of Journalists (Dastoori) in honour of the delegates of Federal Union of Journalists at Lahore Press Club on Friday. The minister said the coalition government of Pakistan Muslim League-N and Pakistan People's Party in Punjab was working hard to provide maximum relief to the people. "New ministers in the Punjab Cabinet would be inducted soon and the PPP would get its due share according to the quota of 40-60 ratio," he added.
He also said the Punjab government had expedited the work on development projects so that public welfare-oriented projects could be completed in time and lapse of funds could be averted. He told mediamen that mechanism to speed up the work on development schemes had been evolved and an effective monitoring system had been placed to save time and money.
The provincial assembly members (MPAs) were also being provided development funds so that they could initiate development schemes in their respective constituencies, he added. According to him, the role of media is very important and now media is also playing a positive role of opposition, and stressed upon the media to highlight positive initiatives being taken by the government. The Punjab government was taking number of steps for the welfare of journalist community.
