The Thai stock market rose 0.90 percent on Tuesday with sentiment boosted by a Wall Street rally overnight, analysts said. The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) composite index gained 6.41 points to close at 715.29 and the blue chip SET-50 index was up 5.52 points to 510.94. Gainers led losers 202 to 141 and 126 stocks were unchanged with a turnover of 4.2 billion shares worth 19.9 billion baht (594.2 million dollars).
The Thai baht closed unchanged at 33.58-60 baht to one dollar. The unit rose against the euro to close at 48.95-49.00 to one euro compared to Monday's close of 49.14-20. Arparporn Sawaengpak, an analyst at DBS Vicker Securities, said the market rose on the sentiment spurred by an overnight rally on Wall Street.
Coal miner Banpu lost 4.00 baht to close at 430.00, PTT Plc added 2.00 baht to 259.00 but its subsidiary PTT Exploration and Production was off 1.00 baht to 144.00. Bangkok Bank rose 3.00 baht to close at 120.00. Kasikornbank closed 1.50 baht higher to 80.75 while Siam Commercial Bank gained 1.75 baht to 84.50. Siam Cement added 3.00 baht to close at 227.00 baht but Thai Airways International slipped 0.10 baht to 21.90.
