Punjab Sports Academy to be upgraded

The provincial government would upgrade Punjab Sports Academy (PSA) with the provision of more facilities for professional training apart from capacity building of the coaches and technical staff of the Punjab Sports Department. Provincial Minister for Sports, Dr Tanveer-ul-Islam, said this during his visit to the Punjab Sports Academy here, on Tuesday.
Director General Sports Punjab, Athar Saeed Butt, M D Punjab Sports Board, Khawar Shah and Director Sports Academy, Jalil Ahmed Chouhan also accompanied the minister. Dr Tanveer was informed that Punjab Sports Academy was working under the control of Punjab Sports dept and providing training facilities to the coaches and technical staff of the department to enhance their professional knowledge and update their skills.
Director Punjab Sports Academy Jalil Chouhan also informed the minister that the Academy was also offering training courses for the coaches and technical staff of different sports associations. He said that private sports associations would be welcomed to get benefit from these facilities.
Dr Tanveer visited different portions of the academy, including conference room, library, dining hall and lobby and reviewed the facilities being provided there. The minister while inspecting the academy said that the latest equipment and other facilities would be provided to further improve the training standard so that maximum people, attached with sports activities, could be benefited and training standards could be improved.
