Punjab government notifies Public Procurement Rules 2009

The Punjab government has notified Public Procurement Rules 2009 in order to improve transparency in procurement of goods, services and consultancies.
On the recommendation of Transparency International Pakistan (TIP), the Services and General Administration, Punjab through notification No MD (PPRA) 1-1/2009 dated 2nd October 2009, has notified that in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 26 of the Punjab Procurement Regulatory Authority Ordinance, 2007 (Pb. Ord. XIX of 2007), the Governor of Punjab is pleased to make the Punjab Procurement Rules, 2009.
Syed Adil Gilani, Chairman TI Pakistan said that the Public Procurement Rules, 2009, which were initially notified by the Federal Government on June 8, 2004, and by the Sindh Government for Sindh on November 1, 2006, and now notifies by the Punjab government will eliminate all discretion in procurement process and avenues of corrupt practices in tendering.-PR
