Pakistan Muslim League-Q is in touch with different like minded parties, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat-i-Islami and the possibility of a new political alliance against present coalition set up cannot be ruled out.
This was indicated by senior PML-Q leader and former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Ellahi while addressing a meeting of his party leadership from Sialkot district, here at his Gulberg residence on Friday, sources close to PML-Q leadership told Business Recorder.
The sources claimed the PML-Q wanted to gather different political forces under the banner of a new political alliance so as to expose the wrong policies of present set up in a forceful manner. Addressing the meeting, Pervaiz Ellahi strongly criticised the ruling coalition partners and said they had failed on internal and external fronts.
He also slammed the PML-N led Punjab government and said Nawaz-League was enjoying status of both the government and opposition. He alleged that anti-people government had done nothing except raising prices of flour, sugar, rice and other basic necessities of life.
On one hand, people were being killed in fake police encounters, and on the other there had been a surge in crime rate, he said. He claimed that Nawaz-League, being afraid of its declining popularity, was escaping from bye-elections.
Ellahi further said country's biggest province was facing financial and administrative downfall and no able or senior officer was ready to serve in the Punjab province. He said the Public Prosecution Department was created during the PML-Q regime in order to overcome crimes by awarding punishment to criminals, but the Punjab government tried to dissolve this department instead of using it effectively.
The PML-Q leader further said the police and administration were being used against political opponents. He said Shahbaz Sharif led government did nothing for the betterment of people. He exhorted upon the PML-Q activists to maintain close liaison with the people in their respective areas to make the party most effective political force of the country.
The participants of the meeting praised Chaudhry Pervaiz Ellahi for initiating a lot of developmental projects aimed at public welfare during his tenure. Among others, the meeting was attended by Chaudhry Zaheer uddin, Moonis Ellahi, Chaudhry Amir Hussein, Akmal Cheema, Azeem Noori Ghumman, Ali Amjad, Ijaz Virk and Farooq Dar.
