TCP floats 0.1 million tons urea tender as cushion

The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has floated an international tender for import of 100,000 tons of urea from world-wide sources to handle any eventuality in the supply of awarded quantity for upcoming Rabi season. According to TCP sources here on Saturday, the Corporation has floated four tenders for the import of required quantity of 600,000 tons as prescribed by the ECC.
"But, in case if any of these tenders would not materialise, this additional quantity of 100,000 tons of urea will make the balance," they added. The bidding for this tender will be held on October 13, 2009. The bidders need to quote C & F price for delivery at Karachi, Port Qasim and Gwadar. Meanwhile, six bidders have offered import prices against the first tender of 150,000 tons of urea floated last month. Sources said that the lowest bid was $289.94 per ton C & F, while the highest was $419 per ton. Final decision will be taken by price evaluation committee on Monday.
