Brazil's 2009/10 (May/April) cocoa arrivals, including imports, reached 1.98 million 60-kg bags by September 27, down 7.7 percent from this time last year, Bahia Commercial Association said. Bahia, Brazil's main cocoa state, delivered 28,497 bags in the week ending September 27, down from the 30,827 delivered a year ago.
Cocoa analyst Thomas Hartmann in a harvest bulletin said that this week would mark the end of the official Temporao (mid-crop) but final data would not be ready for a week and would still be subject to revision. Hartmann added that arrivals for the mid-crop would likely reach the expected 1.05-million-bag mark.
