President of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), Raja Zulqarnain Khan, has expressed dismay over the poor performance of Wapda, causing delay in the reconstruction process of earthquake-affected areas.
Talking to various delegations that called on him here Sunday, he said that due to poor performance of Wapda, there was a delay in the rehabilitation of the affected and as a result, national goals could not be achieved. President AJK said, that residents of Mirpur rendered sacrifices in the vast national interest of Pakistan, in order to enhance agriculture sector and increase the electricity production but due to Wapda's slackness, national targets could not be achieved. He stressed the need to bring improvement in the pace and standard of work.
He lamented that donors also, did not fulfil their pledges. He observed that seismic report, fault line, preparation of master plan, legal complications and insufficient arrangement, to tackle the calamity and incapability of institutions was the reason of delay in reconstruction process. He lauded the courage and spirit exhibited by the quake-affected, and deemed it a role model for the world community.
Opining about the Kashmir issue, he said levelling charges against Pakistan has become Indian culture and fashion. Allegations of Samjhota Express and bomb blasts were 'levelled' against Pakistan but later, it proved that it were the result of Indian terrorism, he maintained.
