Rohtas Art Gallery (RAG) here Monday previewed an exhibition of contemporary miniature paintings by two artists Babar Gull and Hadia Moiz. The display of 15 works presents a series of paintings in which miniature style, has been done with a totally different fashion. "In this age, miniature art work is mostly created on Wasli but I have converted it on canvas, keeping the larger scale in mind," said Babar Gull about his works.
"In this series of my art work, I have tried to create a charismatic awareness about miniature painting and made an effort to explain, as to what extent it can be manipulated," he added. The experience of transferring from Wasli to canvas was emphatic as well as experimental in context of miniatures, as my work examines the facts, he added.
Having a bachelor degree in fine arts (BFA miniature painting), from Hunerkada College of Visual and Performing Arts, Lahore, Babar Gull also works in all mediums of painting and sculpture on wood, clay, fibre glass, paper mache' etc. While the artist Hadia Moiz holds graduation in fine arts with distinction (miniature painting) from Hunerkada College of Visual and Performing Arts, Lahore and displayed her works at home and abroad at prominent places.
Experimenting with various themes and techniques, Hadia Moiz has introduced a fusion of innovative ideas through colours and symbolism. "My work is the interpretation of my imaginations", said Hadia. The exhibition will be held from October 6 to 15th.
