Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani deserves all appreciation for the excellent performance of National Vocational and Technical Education Commission (NAVTEC) under the Chairmanship of Adnan A Khawaja.
He was addressing at the 7th certificates distribution ceremony of Lahore Institute of Technical Education (LITE) at Corps Headquarters Lahore here on Monday. Sharif said that Pakistan was blessed with population, majority of which consists of young people. After imparting them technical and vocational educational training, their abilities and energies could be utilised for the rapid development of the country.
Citing examples of China, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore Sharif said that these countries had achieved enormous economic growth by effectively utilising their skilled workforce. He said that China could be a very good model to follow for Pakistan.
Addressing the ceremony, Chairman NAVTEC, Adnan A. Khawaja, said that due to his organisation's financial and technical co-operation, Pakistan Army's technical institutes were producing world class skilled workforce. Referring to NAVTEC's activities in Punjab province Khawaja said that co-operation with TEVTA Punjab and PVTC had started producing good results.
Khawaja further said that NAVTEC had already released funds Rs 405.2 million to Punjab under the Prime Minister's "Hunarmand Pakistan Programme". The NAVTEC had also released funds Rs 138.1 million to Punjab under the President's "Funni Maharat Programme". Around 42 technical institutes will be established in 21 backward Tehsils of Punjab and almost 10,425 young boys and girls will be provided with vocational training under this programme.-PR
