The popular messaging application WhatsApp has released a new picture-in-picture feature (PiP) for video calling and text-based status that is available for both iOS and Android users across the world.

The PiP feature that was being tested for quite some time now permits users to minimize video call window into a smaller window without interrupting the video or breaking the connectivity in any way. Users would be able to perform other tasks on the phone without the ‘Video is paused’ error.

For iOS users, the feature works perfectly fine for those who have updated their OS to iOS 10. However, for Android users, the feature is only available for those who have updated their OS to Android Oreo.

Along with PiP, WhatsApp also rolled out its feature of text-based status. The feature is similar to the other picture and video statuses with just one difference that it is based on text. It will too, however last for 24 hours.

For this feature, users will have to go to the status option and click on the ‘pencil’ icon and the screen will appear where the user can enter text. Color and font changing will also be allowed for this feature, informs India Today.

WhatsApp also now no more restricts users on its file sharing feature; users can send any kind of file. Moreover, it recently announced a new business app for large business organizations so that they can better communicate with their customers.

Tech Juice reports, WhatsApp, Instagram and their parent company Facebook are teaming up for a cross-app notification feature that will permit users to switch between apps impeccably.
