In pursuance with Chief Minister of Punjab's announcement, the Punjab University VC Dr Mujahid Kamran has said that one-year expenses including fee, dues, boarding, and lodging charges would be waived-off for the IDPs of Swat, Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Malakand Agency, Shangla and Buner, studying in any department.
A notification has been issued in this regard to all deans of faculties and heads of teaching departments. The VC has also recently announced that PU would provide Rs 3000 monthly scholarships to four students, each referred by Chief Minister Punjab Mian Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif, till the completion of their degrees. These students include Farhan Khaatlaue, Faiza Faiz, Ismail and Muhammad Hanan Khan.
Meanwhile, a PU committee, established for the welfare of IDPs, has decided to construct a school for girls in Swat through its welfare funds. The Punjab University medical & relief camp established at Shah Mansoor, Swabi provided medical treatment, medicines and other facilities to the affectees for two months. The varsity also donated Rs 1000,000 to the chief minister's relief fund while provided the same amount to the governor's relief fund for the IDPs.
