PML-Q, Sherpao reject bill

The Opposition in the National Assembly on Thursday completely rejected Kerry Lugar Bill and termed it against the integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan. The opposition said that the interests of Pakistan were not watched in the bill. The parliament must play its role to protect the interests of the country.
Makhdoom Syed Faisal Salah Hayat of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) said while participating in the debate on Kerry Lugar bill that the interests of Pakistan were not protected in the bill. He said that Pakistan military also showed its concerns over the bill and gave a responsibility to the Parliament to decide in the interest of the country.
He said that our military has sacrificed and played an important role against terrorism. He said that Pakistan has nuclear capacity only for deterrence while the US has right of direct access to our nuclear programmes through this bill. He said that the US also wants access to any Pakistani including parliamentarians.
"The bill was not passed so far but it divided our civil and military departments, he said. The PML-Q leader claimed that the US and western countries were running a regular campaign and propaganda against our ISI. He also claimed that India was creating anarchy in the province of Balochistan but the government failed to compel the US to impose conditions on it to stop interaction in the affairs of Pakistan.
He said that the PML-Q completely rejected the bill because it would create clash between military and civil departments. He said that Pakistan army showed reservations regarding the bill give a big responsibility to parliament to decide about it while keeping to the interest of the nation and country.
"Now it is a test for the Parliament to play its role and decide about it. We will never allow imposing this bill on Pakistan," he said. Opposition member, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said that if we accept this bill, the role of America would be increased in the internal affairs of Pakistan. "If we accept the conditionalities of the bill then it would be shameful for us."
"The conditionalities in the bill are negligence of our lobbyists or their mollified intentions to impose such strong terms and condition on Pakistan. If we get one dollar, we will bound practically to accept these terms and condition of the bill," he said. He said that it was defining moment for the parliament. "We should think in the interest of the country and nation, he said.
He said that US President Barack Obama has made a strategy about terrorism which would be roadmap for us. He said that Pakistan already has pied heavy cost to fight war on terrier. He said that more than 2000 Army men have been martyred during operation against terrorism.
