Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Javed Hashmi has said the parliament's supremacy will have to be ensured for country's bright future. While talking to reporters outside the parliament here on Thursday, Hashmi said the Pakistan Army should respect the parliament and be strict in performing its constitutional duties. The PML-N leader said the parliament's supremacy will have to be ensured.
"Pak Army should stay within its limits," he said. "We will protect our Army if it ensures playing the role assigned to it." He said the details of the Kerry-Lugar bill have now come before the people. "The US wants to interfere in the army recruitments and promotions process and matters of ISI through Kerry-Lugar bill," he added. Javed Hashmi said ISI had fought on a number of fronts for Pakistan's defence. "If there is any shortcoming in the ISI, we will rectify it ourselves and not hand over this task to the US," he asserted.
He said President's support to the Kerry-Lugar bill before its tabling in the Parliament is not acceptable. On a question he added that the former president Pervez Musharraf's statement is on the record in which Musharraf admitted issuing threats to Nawab Akbar Bugti and him (Javed Hashmi). "Now, if Pervez Musharraf has courage, he should come back to country and face the trials," he asserted.
