Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Liaquat Baloch has said reservations expressed by the armed forces over the Kerry-Lugar Bill is a matter of deep satisfaction for the entire nation which has risen in protest against this enslaving document. In a press statement here on Thursday, he alleged that the ruling party and its allies were trying to mislead the people only to fulfil the US agenda.
The government officials were trying to defend the bill on the media and projecting it as a singular achievement of President Zardari. On the contrary, he claimed, the bill was against Pakistan's sovereignty and integrity and an insult to the national honour and self respect. He said the institution responsible for the defence of the country's borders had represented nation's sentiments by expressing its reservations on the bill and declaring it contrary to the country's interests and this should be an eye opener for the rulers. Liaquat Baloch also welcomed Balochistan High Court order for registering a case against former president Pervez Musharraf and his coterie for the murder of Nawab Akbar Bugti.
