Thousands of litres of smuggled diesel and goods seized

The Directorate-General of Intelligence and Investigation (DGI&I) of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Karachi, seized thousands of litres of smuggled diesel and lubricant oil in different parts of Sindh on Friday.
Sources told Business Recorder that the action was taken on a tip-off received by Mohammad Zahid Khokar, director general, DGI&I, which said that some unknown smugglers had transported huge quantity of diesel from Iran to sell in the different cities of the province. A team of DGI&I raided and seized some 30,000 litres from Sukkur and about 15,000 litres at Karachi worth millions of rupees.
Sources said that some 23,707 yards of foreign origin cloth, 512 imported tyres, six imported vehicles, 3,000 litre Iranian lubricant oil, 40 cartons of Chinese electronic items, 30 cartons of artificial jewellery and a huge quantity of Indian ghutka was seized, worth Rs 18.64 million, from different parts of the country during last 40 days, depicting phenomenal progress of the department.
