Eleven judges of the superior judiciary, including eight of the Lahore High Court (LHC), two of Supreme Appellate Bench, Supreme Court of Pakistan, and one from the Sindh High Court (SHC) have been retired by the President of Pakistan with immediate effect. These judges had sought pre-mature retirement from the President.
Those who were retired from the LHC are: Justice Mian Muhammad Najum-uz-Zaman, Justice Moulvi Anwar-ul-Haq, Justice M Bilal Khan, Justice Muhammad Khalid Alvi, Justice Syed Sakhi Hussain Bukhari, Justice Fazal-e-Miran Chouhan, Justice Tariq Shamim, Justice Syed Asghar Haider.
Meanwhile, Justice Rashid Ahmad Jalundhary, Justice Moulana Khalid Mehmood both from the Supreme Appellate Bench, Supreme Court of Pakistan, and Justice Zia Pervaiz of the Sindh High Court were also retired by the President. The government issued notifications in this regard on Sunday.
