Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to contest Gilgit-Baltistan elections and it will nominate its candidates on all the seats in the five districts of the newly created region, said Siddiqu Al-Farooq spokesman of PML-N.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday he said that his party will become the single largest party representing the people of Gilgit-Baltistan in the wake of upcoming elections. The government has announced that the general elections in Gilgit-Baltistan would be held on November 11. He alleged the PPP is planning to rig the polls through its hand picked election commissioner in Gilgit-Baltistan.
He said that the government has started buying the loyalties of people in the area through Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) while the local administration has also been re-shuffled in the region. Farooq ruled out explicit rejection of Gilgit-Baltistan package, saying it does has some drawbacks but it will still serve the people. On a question he said that PML-N leaders Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif will soon visit Gilgit, to launch the party's election campaign.
