BPC informed about progress made on market access

The second meeting of the Business Person Council (BPC) was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Finance, Economic Affairs and Revenue Shaukat Tarin here on Thursday. The Minister informed the BPC of the progress made by the government on market access and the government's commitment to restructuring the public sector entities.
He stressed the need for public-private partnership and said that the government is committed to implement a PPP model. The meeting discussed at length the implementation road map for proposals presented to the government. The BPC was also updated on overall performance of the national economy.
The representatives of FBR apprised the council of the development in the area of tax reforms and addressed the issues highlighted by the members. The BPC members appreciated the diligent follow up process of their proposals.
They appreciated the continuous efforts of the Finance Minister in building confidence of the business community and was decided that BPC would deliberate on key issues pertaining to private sector development in subsequent meetings. It may be noted that the BPC is represented by businessmen from various business sectors covering all the four provinces including ICT and FATA. The Council serves as a formal forum for private sector dialogue with government.-PR
