16 Oct, 2009

An acute shortage of urea and DAP is expected during the wheat season in Multan and its surrounding areas. According to sources, the Federal Government has failed to fulfil the demand of provinces due to which wheat crop is expected to affect badly. It is also feared that 600,000 tonne imported urea would also reach late in the country.
The sources said that Agriculture Department, Multan had demanded about 1.6 million bags of urea for Rabi season but only 38,000 bags were made available. Similarly the demand of DAP in the district is one million bags whereas only 500,000 bags were made available.
