The Syndicate of the NED university of Engineering and Technology Karachi has approved the conferment of two Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science. This was stated by the Registrar of the institution, Engr. Javed Aziz Khan, on Friday. He said that the recipients are both the faculty members of the NED University.
Sohail Abdul Sattar is associated with the institution's Department of Computer Science. The title of his thesis is "A technique for the design and implementation of an OCR for printed Nastalique text". The other recipient is Mirza Mahmood Baig of the Department of Mathematics.
The title of his thesis is "A new software testing strategy", it was further pointed out. Both would be conferred the Ph.D. degrees at the next annual convocation of the NED University which is likely to be held by January 2010. Earlier, the NED University had conferred its first Ph.D. degree in computer science in the year 2005, the Registrar of the institution added.
