All Sindh Primary Teachers Association has given call of protest on 21st October 2009 throughout the province against police failure to arrest killers of a primary teacher Abdul Ghafoor Channa who was killed in his village Nangar Makan tehsil Daulatpur district Nawabshah 20 days back.
Addressing news conference here on Friday, PTA president Muhammad Rafiq Jarwar, office secretary Mirza Khan Dahri and others said not only a teacher was killed but on behest of local Jagirdars false cases were filed against 7 other teachers out of whom 3 were arrested.
They said Daulatpur police refused to register murder case of Abdul Ghafoor Channa but later on the orders of Sindh High Court police lodged FIR against advisor to Sindh Chief Minister, Ismail Dahri, his brothers etc. They said that police instead of arresting killers, launched crackdown against victim family and a number of their men were arrested others disappeared. Again on judicial raid the arrested persons were recovered.
The applicant teacher Iqbal Channa who is office bearer of Primary Teachers Association Daulatpur was booked under false cases and challaned in anti terrorist court. Earlier at police station Daulatpur he was beaten by policemen and private persons. They said because the person involved in murder is politically influenced as such police was playing role of his managers.
They announced to observe protest day on 21st October throughout Sindh and also demanded that all accused nominated in the murder of Abdul Ghafoor Channa be arrested, false cases against teachers and relatives of slain teacher be withdrawn. They also demanded judicial probe of the matter and to open all primary schools of Union Council Shahpur Jehanian, which have been closed down after the murder incident.
