Pillion riding banned in Karachi, Hyderabad

The law enforcement agencies have been directed to beef up security throughout the province especially in Karachi and Hyderabad to avoid any untoward incident. The Sindh government has once again imposed ban on pillion ridding for a period of 30 days with effect from October 17, 2009 under Section 144.
The disabled persons, elderly citizens, children, women, journalists and the personnel of law enforcement agencies have been exempted from the ban. Meanwhile, Sindh Minister for Home Affairs Dr Zulfikar Mirza has directed the Inspector General Police (IGP) to ensure strict implementation of Section 144 in these two cities to avoid any untoward incident.
A separate comprehensive security plan be chalked out for the safety of installations of Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy, offices of law enforcement agencies, oil terminals, gas fields, Karachi Port Trust, oil refineries, coast guards office, important government buildings and other private multinational companies offices, he further instructed. Mirza said the deployment of personnel of Elite Force should be made at military installations besides beefing up of snap checking, police patrolling.-PR
