Chairman, All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA), Junaid Ismail Makda has urged President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to direct concerned authorities to formulate an integrated energy policy on war footing basis. In a communication to President and Prime Minister, he said that the new policy should promote coal as medium to generate power.
It said that 70 percent of the India's power generation is coal-based. Referring to the expected gas shortage during coming winter he opposed the proposal of cutting gas supply to CNG station. The theft of electricity is costing only KESC to the tune of Rs one billion per month. He underlined the need of legislation of stringent laws against electricity theft.
He proposed that gas load management could be carried out in peak winter season only for couple of hours per day. This is unlike electricity load shedding where the electricity is completely shut, instead the unit will still run just the pressure of gas is slightly reduced that would result in reduced quantum of gas consumption.
