50 suspects held from periphery of GHQ

Law enforcement agencies on Sunday arrested as many as 50 suspected persons from the periphery of General Headquarter, Rawalpindi in a pre-emptive step to any similar act terror on the sensitive institute as did last week.
Sources said that in a grand operation conducted by the Rawalpindi police in various areas, including Cantt area, R A Bazar and Afsha Colony, the LEAs arrested score of suspected persons, who might have link with the last week GHQ attack and shifted them to various police stations of the city.
Sources said that arrested people are mostly are non-locals who have no identity cards and other related documents and investigation is underway to ascertain motive behind their residing in the surrounding of GHQ. During the search operation, the law enforcement agencies raided a number of houses with the help of sniffer dogs to avoid any explosion. A senior police official in Rawalpindi without specifying the exact number of the arrested people told Business Recorder that some suspects have been nabbed by the law enforcement agencies on the tips of intelligence agencies. He, however, reluctant to mention that whether the law enforcement agencies have recovered any ammunition and explosive from their possession.
