Agro-friendly policy introduced in Punjab

Punjab government has introduced "Agro-friendly" policy for enhancing per acre yield of wheat in the province, said Khawaja Muhammad Asif Central leader of Pakistan Muslim League-N. Addressing a prize distribution ceremony here he said that government was providing agricultural tools on reduced rates to the growers aimed at enhancing per acre yield of wheat in the Punjab.
The government was utilising all resources for modernising agriculture sector for attaining food self-sufficiency, he said. Asif said the government had eliminated the middleman role with the concept of saving the skin of small growers and farmers to ensure timely payment to the wheat growers of their proceeds. The government had already taken drastic steps for attaining food self-sufficiency and to track agriculture sector on modern and scientific lines, he added.
Speaking on the occasion Commissioner Gujranwala division Hashim Khan Tareen said agriculture department was extending guidance to the growers by ensuring quality seed, pesticides and fertiliser in a smooth way in the division. EDO Agriculture Ehsan Ahmad said that in order to develop agriculture the department had adopted effective policy due to which Sialkot district produces two maund of wheat per acre. The PLM-N leader and Divisional Commissioner distributed the prize among the wheat growers.
