New York sugar climbs

Raw sugar futures on ICE Futures US at 8:54 am EDT (1254 GMT). March raw sugar contract jumped 0.70 cent to 24.61 cents per lb. Dealing from 24.01 to 24.64 cents. Volume in March contract at 17,026 lots. Support from the weak US dollar, which neared a 14-month low against the euro, as well as supply concerns in top producer Brazil helped push sugar higher traders.
Brazil's sugar supply outlook is set to tighten after heavy rainfall, suggesting that prices will rise - consultancy Czarnikow. Many market participants were away from their desks for the Brazil sugar industry week - traders.
