Lineapelle Fair: leather exporters receive orders worth $5 million

Pakistani exporters have received orders worth 5 million dollars for the export of finished leather in 'Lineapelle Fair', held in Italy. After a gap of seven years Pakistan had setup its 'National Pavilion' in the fair. 19 Pakistani furnished leather exporters participated in the fair, out of which some 9 exporters participated under the banner of Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA).
Talking with newsman here on Wednesday Chairman PTA, Gulzar Feroz said that overall some 5 million dollars order for the export of furnished leather has been finalised, while about 2 million dollars orders are in pipeline and expected to mature in the next few weeks.
With the support of Dr Aamer Ahmed commercial Counsellor Embassy of Pakistan Rome, Italy, PTA had setup "National Pavilion" in the fair held from 13-15 October 2009 in Bolonga, he informed. He said that PTA members participated in the fair with the financial assistance of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) with an aim to promote the country's exports via this vital world famous event of leather industry.
"It is revealed from the reports received from member participants that an estimated business concluded during the Fair is worth 5 million dollars on various specific items of finished leather like Sheep, Goat, Cow & Buffalo, which are used in manufacturing of Shoes, Leather Garments, and other products," chairman PTA said.
He said that around 600-800 visitors and buyers visited Pakistani stalls at Pakistan pavilion during the fair from various countries such as USA, France, Germany, Holland, UK, Sweden, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Australia, China, Korea, Spain, Russia, Vietnam, Denmark, Greece, Poland, Mexico, Austria, Switzerland, etc. He added that all participants appreciated the finest quality of finished leather of all sorts displayed at the Pakistani stands in the event.
All the exhibitors expressed their willingness in advance for participation in the next year 2010 event with necessary Government subsidy, as the fair is significant of its kind, he said. "We had reserved total space up to 152 sqm for organising National Pavilion and accommodated 9 member participants and also kept necessary corridor within the total reserved area between the stands to make the separate entity of each member participant for their result-oriented participation in a befitting manner under the banner of National Pavilion," Feroz said. He said that fair in Bologna, Italy is unique of its kind covering all the European markets, therefore, PTA requests its members to participate in large number in the next Lineapelle fair.
