Under the spirit to promote the tourism industry in various picturesque areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the AJK government is seriously contemplating to develop and improve the conditions of the ancient forts in Mirpur division including centuries old Ramkot Fort located in the Mangla Dam lake in Mirpur Azad Kashmir for the attraction of the local and foreign tourists, official sources said.
The sources told APP here on Thursday that in order to promote and encourage the visit of the tourists from within and outside Azad Jammu and Kashmir various locations at the fort suitable for the installation of chair lifts and tourist huts at the centuries old fort are being reviewed by the authorities concerned including the tourism department.
It may be added that great potential particularly the natural resources and historic resorts were available in Azad Jammu and Kashmir to promote the tourism sector in the liberated area. The AJK government has also recently chalked out a comprehensive plan to promote the indoor games under the programme for promotion sports activities for encouraging the healthy society and good human health, according to the official sources.
Highlighting the plan, the sources told that a grand gymnasium is being constructed at Mirpur Club, which will provide various indoor games facilities including for badminton, table tennis and other games. The gymnasium hall could also be used for holding religious, cultural and social activities, seminars and symposiums. The grand gymnasium hall would have the seating capacity for 650 spectators. The pillar-less hall is being constructed on an area of 2925 square feet comprising 65 feet long and 45 feet wide in size.
