Pakistan Hunting and Sporting Arm Development Company (PHSADC) has successfully improved the quality of locally manufactured TT pistol (7.62 mm) through reverse engineering and is now chalking out plan for marketing of the product in both national and international markets.
"We have improved the standard and quality both in terms of robustness and precision of indigenously manufactured TT pistol by the artisans belonging to arms manufacturing industry of Peshawar valley that has a history of over 150 years," informed Chairman PHSADC, Nauman Wazir.
Talking to journalists here on Thursday, Nauman Wazir said the locally manufactured small gun can be now presented to customers as product meeting all quality standards in metallurgy, safety and precision. He said the craftsmen of Peshawar and Darra Adam Khel have a long history of producing small arms since the time when British colonial rulers facilitated the native of Kohat Pass to manufacture weaponry under a deal for guarding the pass.
The PHSADC, he continued, is striving to harness the national potential in the field of hunting and sporting arms by opening opportunities for export of locally manufactured arms, accessories and outdoor equipment.
Pakistan, he added, offers an exciting potential to the international market in the field of hunting and sporting arms sector. To harness the total national potential of hunting and sporting arms industry of Pakistan, PHSADC is working on different fronts to improve the quality of arms produced by local arms manufacturers so that export could be enhanced.
Presently, he said, the PHSADC has approached the students doing MBAs from different universities of Peshawar to prepare a plan for marketing of improved quality of TT pistol. Those who suggested best marketing plan would be given away a cash award of Rs 25,000 and PHSADC would implement recommendations for improving sale of the product.
