23 Oct, 2009

The Lahore High Court (LHC) Thursday suspended the orders of Chief Minister Punjab for re-inquiry into the matter of theft of maze by the flour mills and observed that prima facie chief minister directions are to be considered as to influence in the matter. The court while suspending the chief minister orders issued notices to DG anti-corruption department for November 12.
Three flour mills owners Hashmat Khan and others have approached the LHC and contended that in 2004 anti-corruption department had initiated a proceedings against the mills owners about maze theft matter but the petitioners were found innocent after thorough investigation. The petitioners were of the view that the matter was disposed after declaring them innocent and hence the respondent Chief Minister could not pass orders for re-inquiry into the matter.
