23 Oct, 2009

Summaries of the ICE Futures US cocoa, coffee and sugar markets early on Thursday. December arabica coffee contract fell 1.75 cents to $1.4255 per lb at 11:08 am EDT (1508 GMT). Session range from $1.4030 to $1.4355. Arabica coffee futures moved sideways, weighed down by a firmer dollar and light origin selling, said brokers. March raw sugar contract dropped 0.49 cent to 23.55 cents per lb at 11:08 am.
Trading range from 23.40 to 23.98 cents. Sugar slid on sales induced by a firm dollar, but business was again light as the retreat was not extensive, given bullish fundamentals, said traders. Benchmark December cocoa contract steady at $3,384 per tonne by 11:09 am. Trading band from $3,327 and $3,385 which was just below Wednesday's 30-year intraday high at $3,387. US cocoa consolidated after hitting a 30-year high Wednesday and paring earlier losses as the pound came off its lows against the dollar, said traders.
