No operation in Southern Punjab: PML-N leader

25 Oct, 2009

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, Senator Pervaiz Rashid, has said the government is not launching any military operation in Southern Punjab. Reacting to the statement of Amir Jamaat-i-Islami Syed Munawar Hassan, Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that there is no reality in the statement of Syed Munawwar Hassan that the government is going to launch a military operation in Southern Punjab.
He said that Munawar Hassan has been issuing such statements for the last one and a half years but the government does not intend to fulfil his desire in this regard. He said that instead of criticising Shahbaz Sharif, why does Munawwar Hassan not issue any statement against the terrorists who are killing innocent people in various cities of Pakistan.
He said that due to such baseless statement of Syed Munawar Hassan, Jamaat-i-Islami has to face such a frustrating situation that only 18,000 votes were recovered from the hundred and thousands of ballot boxes against Kerry Lugar Bill although millions of Pakistanis are united against this bill. He said that this so-called referendum was an insult to Pakistani people and, in fact, it was a deep conspiracy in favour of Kerry Lugar Bill.
