PIA flights to UK

26 Oct, 2009

I am a Pakistani-origin French citizen living in Paris. Recently I took a PIA Boeing 777 flight to London from Islamabad, where after a two-day stay, I went to Paris. My flight on PIA was good and I fail to understand the complaints by so many passengers, who routinely complain of food, which in my opinion was quite satisfactory in terms of quantity and even quality.
However, what shocked me was that one of the pilots flying the aircraft was above 60 years of age and the flight had overflown French airspace, which strictly bans any commercial aircraft overflying its airspace with a pilot above 60 years in age. Similar restrictions are in place by other countries within Europe such as Hungary. Does PIA or CAA Pakistan know about this restriction? This could become a very serious and embarrassing issue for Pakistan, especially when viewed in the background that PIA's over-aged fleet faced restrictions within Europe, which are still applicable to some aircrafts.
