Fashion designer Ayesha Shiraz Monday called for reviewing the country's export policy, saying that unplanned and unrestricted export of cotton and cotton yarn would have an adverse effect on the export of Pakistan's value-added apparels and garments.
On her return from a weeklong visit of Dubai and other UAE states, where she successfully launched her winter outfits, the Fashion icon told mediamen here that the constant export of these items has already pushed up their prices to new heights, ultimately increasing the cost of production at home and making it difficult to export our value-added products. "The irony is that the cotton yarn is being exported to our competing countries, which amounts to arming them for competing us in the finished product market.
