US MIDDAY: coffee and sugar climb

Summaries of the ICE Futures US cocoa, coffee and sugar markets early on Monday. December arabica coffee contract rose 0.70 cent to $1.3785 per lb at 11:10 am EDT (1510 GMT). Session range from $1.3550 to $1.3920. Arabica coffee futures consolidated after Friday's steep drop, with support from the weak dollar, said brokers.
March raw sugar contract gained 0.26 cent at 23.38 cents per lb at 11:10 am. Trading range from 23.05 to 23.73 cents. Sugar higher on investor buying, but volume was on the light side as most players were content to see raws consolidate at this time.
Trading band in March ran from 21 to 26 cents, said traders. Benchmark December cocoa contract rose $3 to $3,368 per tonne by 11:11 am. Trading band from $3,377 and $3,430. US cocoa was close to a 30-year high but pared earlier gains as investor buying petered out, said traders.
