Malaysian shares ended flat Tuesday with the market in negative territory throughout the day, dealers said. The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index edged up 0.38 points to 1,260.30 on volume of 1.01 billion shares worth 1.32 billion ringgit (388.52 million dollars). There were 264 gainers, 404 losers and 229 counters unchanged.
"The market opened and stayed in negative territory throughout the day as profit-taking across the board pressured stocks lower," a dealer told Dow Jones Newswires. "Buying interest emerged in the last hour of trade as local funds emerged as net buyers," the dealer added. Among gainers, CIMB rose 1.3 percent to 12.78 ringgit as IOI Corp climbed 1.1 percent to 5.52 ringgit. On the downside, Maybank slid 1.2 percent to 6.84 ringgit while Sime Darby slipped 0.6 percent to 9.0 ringgit.
