PSC bans six varieties of wheat for cultivation

Pakistan Seed Council (PSC) has put a ban on the cultivation of six varieties of wheat. All these varieties have been completely deprived of per acre production due to attack of several pests. According to sources, Pakistan Seed Council has completely banned 6 varieties of wheat including Punjab 85, Punjab 96, Pasban, Maxi Pak, Pak 81 and Blue Silver.
Proper notification has been released in this regard. These varieties were under the threat of different pests attack because of becoming very old and their production ability had been reduced by 70 percent. Punjab Seed Council has advised farmers to cultivate Chakwal 50 in barani areas and Sehar 2006, Bhakkar 2002, Inqilab 91, Shafaq and Fareed for the canal areas. Sehar 2006 is the largest cultivating variety and its seed is selling at record level.
