A division bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) adjourned for Thursday (today) the hearing of appeals against postponement of by-elections, as a Deputy Attorney General (DAG) continued his arguments on behalf of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of Pakistan. The DAG Amir Rehman insisted that the government had no jurisdiction to interfere in the affairs of the election commission.
He argued that the commission announced schedule for by-elections after it heard all the parties concerned. He requested the bench to set aside the order of the single bench wherein the by-polls were postponed. The bench comprising Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan would resume hearing on these appeals on Thursday (today).
