Over 1000 sales tax auditors and senior auditors have fully supported the new organisational set-up at the Large Taxpayer Units (LTUs) and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) through promulgation of the Finance Ordinance (amended) 2009.
Talking to Business Recorder, Muhammad Afzal Malik President FBR Auditors and Senior Auditors Welfare Association said here on Sunday that the auditors/senior auditors have assured the tax authorities full co-operation in implementation of the new tax structure under the Finance Ordinance (amended) 2009. Under the Ordinance, all positions have been re-designated under the Inland Revenue for harmonisation of income tax, sales tax and federal excise duty.
He said that the new system would also ensure smooth working relationship with both the income tax and sales tax officials. Under one roof, all three taxes would be handled by a single officer, which would help in facilitating the taxpayers. The creation of Inland Revenue Service would also ensure composite audit and revenue monitoring of potential taxpayers.
The FBR top management assured the association about promotion of these auditors and senior auditors. The association has thanked Chairman FBR, Sohail Ahmed and all other committee members including Asghar Ali Chaudhry, Chief Management FBR for making sincere efforts for the promotion of auditors/senior auditors.
Fazal-u-Rehman, Secretary Co-ordination and Ihsan-Ullah, General Secretary of the association would co-ordinate with the FBR committee for speedy processing of cases at the FBR level. Recently, the issue of promotion of auditors/senior auditors of sales tax was discussed in detail at a meeting with the Chairman FBR, who agreed, in principle to promote all auditors BS-14 having service of more than 5 years to the post of senior auditors BS-16 in one go and all senior auditors having 5-10 years service will be promoted as Assistant/Deputy Collector Sales Tax.
